Every dancer needs to learn how to make their own bun for ballet class and recitals. Make sure to always have bobby pins and hairspray on hand to secure the bun and slick down any fly away hairs. Some hair types will be able to form a bun without using anything extra, where others may need to use a former. Here are our tips to getting the perfect ballet bun!
Using Wet Hair
1. Wet Hair 2. Make a ponytail 3. Twist around the base of the ponytail 4. Form the bun 5. Secure with bobby pins, net, and hair spray
Using a Donut
1. Put hair in a ponytail 2. Thread hair through the donut 3. Fold the hair around the donut 4. Wrap extra pieces around the edge 5. Secure with bobby pins and hairspray
***You can always make your own hair donut by using a sock instead of purchasing one. Just cut the toe off the sock and roll it into a donut shape around your ponytail and pin it down.
